What you don’t know…

Could fill a book?

Won’t hurt you?

I don’t know about that, but we all have somethings we need to learn. I am an avid learner and researcher. I can’t tell you how many times I google things during the day. And it shocks me that other people are cool being ignorant to information. No judgement, but that’s not my style.

On the other hand, what about the things that we can only learn by the universe telling us? Those epiphanies. Those ah-ha moments. Those only come from the sky. Our own brain connecting synapsis and forming clarity.

Those moments have to be grasped.

There is no shiny sign or light bulb over head. No Google. Sometimes those ideas are nagging us for days, months, years and we have to be open and ready for them.

All this has a point. I swear.

I woke up this morning and did yoga for the first time in years. I have the Pocket Yoga app and it’s super easy to use. I have been so tense and inflexible lately. Working more at a desk, I have had to return to a classroom to manage some bad turn over with staff. Up and down and up and down has shown me how inflexible I am.

So I did yoga today… two repetitions of a Sun Salutation A (Surya Namaskara A), just to warm up, tomorrow I’ll add more until I am a yoga machine, once again! When I stood up to roll my mat, I said,

“Shit, I’m going to have to write and edit at the same damn time.”

Wham. That was it. When I say open, that was literally it. My calming practice, focusing on my body and those tight spots, literally opened my mind.

But then again, it was like, “You already knew that…”

I know, this seems like DUH for a writer, but I rarely edit and write at the same time. The synapsis have been firing for a long time, trying to show me that I needed to multitask in this way and all of a sudden, I grasped it. I can be very single minded at times and wanting to finish editing before I write another project is a perfectionism issue for me.

Everything in a straight line.

Well not anymore! You wanna get these books done?! You gotta write ’em!

Take some time to, first of all, understand your epiphany. You have to know it when you see it. Second, make room for it.

Like me, most of us hustle back and forth through life without releasing anything, tension or otherwise. Giving yourself a moment to be, makes room for those ah-ha moments. Long shower or bath, take a walk, exercise, whatever you need.

You must purposefully seek out your clarity. How do you release and refresh?

Love, Tiffany
